Your photo
on canvas
We print your photo on canvas, stretch it over a bar by hand and wrap it around the edge. Hang it as it is — or add a made-to-measure frame.

A canvas on its own, or in a frame
A stretched canvas is a finished picture: it has its own depth, edge and shadow, and it hangs straight away. A frame turns it into furniture — it closes the edge and adds the weight a bare canvas doesn't have.

From a photo to a canvas
1. Upload a photo
The original from your phone or camera is enough. You'll see how large it can go while staying sharp.
2. Pick a size
We build to your photo's own ratio in whole centimetres — from 20 to 80 cm on the short side and up to 110 cm on the long one.
3. We print and stretch it
Printed with a 5 cm overlap on every side, then stretched over a pine bar by hand.
4. Framed, if you want
Choose from 129 frames with a rabbet deep enough to take a canvas.
5. We make it and ship it
Made and delivered in 7–10 days, stretched and ready for the wall.
A mirrored 5 cm wrap
We flip the motif at the edge and carry it 5 cm past it.

The picture carries on, mirrored, around the side

Frames a canvas actually fits
A canvas is deep, and an ordinary shallow moulding won't take it: the frame needs a rabbet the stretcher bar can sit in. We stock 129 of them.
Why a canvas has no glass
A canvas is stretched over a bar and holds its own plane. There is nothing to cockle, so it needs no glass pressing it flat — unlike a paper print, where the glass is the only thing keeping a loose sheet straight.
Without glass there are no reflections, and the piece is far lighter and cheaper to ship. A mat drops out for the same reason: the canvas has an edge of its own and the frame closes onto it.
Check how sharp it will be
What DPI is
A photo is made of pixels and no more of them will appear. The bigger we print it, the further apart those pixels are spread – and the softer the print. DPI says how many print dots fit into one inch. That is why the same photo can be excellent small and soft at a metre across.
When a print is sharp
- Top print quality200 DPI and above
- Sufficient print quality80–199 DPI
- Insufficient print qualityBelow 80 DPI
The usual print standard is 300 DPI; for canvas, as for paper, we call a print excellent from 200 DPI. The weave does soften fine detail a little, but a picture on the wall still gets looked at from close up.
Below 80 DPI we don't recommend printing and don't offer the size at all – the difference would be obvious.
Move the size and see how large your photo can go on canvas while staying sharp.
Sufficient print quality
Enough resolution for this size. Slightly soft up close, fine from viewing distance — a smaller size will be noticeably sharper.
We can print your photo sharply up to 49 × 37 cm.
